UBClips keeps as little about you as it can. This page says what it keeps, why, and for how long.
Watching a demo
A demo you open plays in your browser. It isn’t sent anywhere unless you publish a clip of it.
Publishing a clip
Publishing uploads the whole demo file, not only the part you clipped, and keeps it as long as a clip uses it. Anyone with the clip’s link can watch it and download that file. A demo holds what the game recorded, such as the names of the players in it.
With the demo, UBClips keeps the clip’s title, its start and end, how it is shown, its card picture, and facts read from the demo for search: the game and map, who recorded and hosted it, the server, and the players and their teams. It also keeps when the clip was published and how many times it has been viewed.
Signing in with Discord
Signing in asks Discord only for your account’s basic profile. UBClips keeps your Discord user ID, username and avatar, and when you first and last signed in. It never sees your password, email address, servers or messages.
Cookies and browser storage
ubc_sessionkeeps you signed in for 30 days, or until you sign out.ubc_oauthlasts 10 minutes while you sign in, to check that the answer from Discord is for you.
UBClips stores only a code in the cookie; on the server it keeps a hash of that code, never the code itself. Your browser also keeps your viewing preferences, and holds a demo for a moment while you sign in to publish it. UBClips uses no advertising or tracking cookies, and its pages load no analytics or advertising scripts.
Your network address
UBClips never stores your IP address. To limit how many clips are published and to count views, it keeps keyed hashes, which can’t be turned back into an address:
- Publishing: a hash of your address and the day, kept with each clip. It counts how many clips one address publishes in a day, and can’t be linked to the same address on another day.
- Views: a hash of the clip, your address, your browser and the hour, so a view counts once an hour. It is deleted after two hours. Views per clip per day are kept for 8 days, for the “This week” list.
Services UBClips uses
- Cloudflare runs the site and stores its data. Like any host, it handles your address and browser details to deliver pages.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that an anonymous publisher is a person. It sees your address and browser while it checks.
- Discord handles signing in.
Each has its own privacy policy. UBClips sells nothing about you and shares nothing beyond what these services need to run the site.
Deleting your clips
Signed in, you can delete your clips on My clips. A deleted clip is gone, and so is its demo file once no other clip uses it. An admin can remove a clip that breaks the terms; its demo file is deleted, and a record that it was removed, and why, is kept.
To have an anonymous clip taken down, or your account’s details erased, write to moc.spilcbu@liocer.
